its friday once again.

i can count 7 buds on my catasetum plant. the inflorescence has grown substantially for the past 2 weeks. expecting the buds to open in about another week. i'm anticipating the moment because this is the first time it is going to flower since i obtained the plant 1 year ago. contrary to recommendations by some growers, this plant seems to like moisture whole year round. Drying out does not do the plant any good. the new pseudobulbs are not as plump and big as when the plant is kept evenly moist all the time. maybe it only applies to our climate. still...some kind of trial and error. i realise that most orchids love abundant moisture when grown in singapore. i still allow them to dry out slightly between waterings but continual moisture is what most plants really need.

going out with ah beng tomorrow. going to the pet shops at serangoon i think. setting up some new aquarium. will be staying overnight at his place too.
