forgot to bring my wallet out yesterday. got to borrow some cash from ah beng.
went to a few places.
met ah beng at ang mo kio mrt station at 1230pm. we walked to a bus stop and took a bus to some fish shops at novena. ah beng wanted to find some mosses there for his aquarium. there are many varieties of mosses being sold in the 2 shops which are also beside each other. i was quite fascinated by the wild guppies that were displayed in the tanks. these small livebearers are colourful and hyper active. in case, you don't know how a wild guppy looks like, click on this link. The guppies that we frequently encounter in fish shops are domesticated fishes. Domesticated guppies are results of seletive breeding that has resulted in exaggerated caudal and dorsal fins in males. though nowadays, you can also find females with colourful fins. Guppies are the first fishes that got me excited and interested in fish keeping when i was 5 years old. been rearing fishes most of my life ever since.
after acquiring the mosses, we returned to ang mo kio town central for lunch. we had mee pok ta. around this time, meishan missed call (again) ah beng. she would be meeting us at serangoon north. meanwhile, me and ah beng took bus 74 from ang mo kio mrt station to serangoon north. we reached serangoon north before meishan and began to walk around and look at the pet shops in the area. they are actually selling hornbills and toucans at the bird shops...hmm..i tried to take photos of the birds but the aunty told me not to take any photos. definitely some illegally imported birds...meishan finally came, she brought along limin. meishan likes animals which are slightly distasteful to the eyes i realise. while ah beng and me find the japanese spitz so adorable, she likes pug. ok la, think pug still looks quite alrite..just that..eh..
4 of us left serangoon north and took meishan's car to kovan. we have tea at a hong kong cafe. the peanut butter toast is yummy. limin left after tea. ah beng brought us to this specialty fish shop that sells highly carnivorous fish and cichlids. i saw a pair of apistogramma that tempt me to buy. but oh well. ah beng tried to belly dance to akon's song in meishan's car with his seat belt on. fascinating. the music on the radio was a blast. love the remixes that were being played.
next we went to ah beng's home at yishun to have dinner with his dad. after the meal, we stayed at his place and watched a movie.
