I'm currently residing in the capital city of Vientiane, Laos, for two nights in one of the guesthouses in town. Vientiane amazes me with its neat traffic lights, relatively clean streets and non-functional zebra crossings where vehicles don't stop for pedestrians. The sceneries in Vang Vieng were breathtakingly stunning. They reminded me of chinese water colour paintings. A visit to one of the Vang Vieng caves was another memorable activity. The cave was partially flooded with water. We had to sit on inflated rubber tyres to access the gastronomical-like cave tunnel. It was plain cool fun. After that, we went kayaking along Nam Song river. If the rapids had been stronger, it would be more thrilling.
My experience in Phonm Penh in Cambodia was horrendous. In the Khmer streets, there were no traffic lights, no zebra crossings, absolutely nothing. Jaywalking was a normal common everyday activity. It was quite a shocking experience for me to cross the roads initially, especially at cross junctions where endless streams of motorbikes, cars, tuks tuks, bicycles and hybrid vehicles come and go in all possible directions. Angkor Wat was lovely although it had an expensive entrance fee. Attractions in Cambodia was generally overcharged and pricey.
Khmer curry and Laotian fried rice are delicious.
